World Premiere of My Very First Music Video!!

August 27: Day 1 of Peace and Unity March against the Border Wall

I can't walk in the protest march of the border wall today, because I'm in Iowa and the march is in Texas. So, in honor of the event, I've produced my very first music video, "They're Building a Wall" by David Rovics. David's song is about the Israeli/Palestinian wall, but I apply it to the U.S. Mexico Border Wall. The video lasts less than 3 1/2 minutes.

I hope you like it. If you do like it, pass it on. The border wall has got to go.

Brava my dear! This is great and much needed.

I am not sure if we discussed this, but I have been to Israel twice and I have a lot to say about that blasted ugly and horrible wall there.

Thanks, Fran!
I visited pre-Wall Israel during the Intifada of '88. Palestine has a hold on my heart.
Let me know if you have any posts on this.
It kills me to see us doing this in N. America.

Good stuff! But correct your link. You left out the s in Rovics in the URL. :)

Just like me to do that. Thanks, Randal!

"Mr. President, tear down this wall!" Do you think some day, some one will stand at the wall and, like Reagan did in Berlin, will tell the US to tear down The Great Wall of Mexico? The sooner the better. Nicely done video, BE.

Thanks, eProf. I wouldn't be surprised if the leader we need to speak truth to us comes from the exterior. And the longer we wait, the more wasted money and environmental damage and needless deaths we'll suffer.

Nice job, BE. I'm posting that over at LOC.

BE, did you see the news from Laurel, Mississippi, this morning? Add Laurel to Postville. Tragic consequences for those arrested and displaced.

Robert, that's an honor. Thanks.

eProf, someone commented on that news yesterday at Maria's. It makes me sick in my heart! The Letters and Papers from Postville blog today is very well written: short & direct. I wish I'd written it.

Great song, great video.

Did I see the statistic flash by that it's going to cost $49 billion? That money could do so much good put to other purposes.

Border Explorer said...

Thank you, Ruth!
Yes, a conservative journal recently estimated a partial wall costing $49 Billion. This is beyond shameful and right on into sinful, in my estimation! I had to stick that statistic into the video, my editorial comment.

Oh, such a hectic day..how nice to end it here right before bed with this lovely work of art. Great job. I hope it is the first of many more to come.

Thanks, Blueberry & Maria! It was a learning experience, and I enjoyed it. But sharing it is even better. Thanks for watching!

B.E., you are so talented! This vid was wonderfully conceived & executed with your full heart & passion. And knowing how actual costs tend to far exceed estimates, you can bet that $49billion will end up being 2 or 3 x that.

And yeah, I guess once the wall is built, we are just supposed to ignore what's happening on the other side? Out of sight, out of mind?

D.K. thanks for your very kind comments! The video does have a lot of my heart in it. It was lots of fun to create.

Yeah, all that wasted money!! It breaks my heart.

We (as a nation) seem to be excellent at "denial" so [like you] I don't know that we need a wall to screen out the reality of Latin America. But the politicians can hide behind the wall, so it helps them out. grrrrrr

That's a good way to put it, BE: the politicians can hide behind the wall. It's incredibly stupid.
