Al Qaeda encourages jihidists to buy arms at gun shows

Al-Qaeda spokesman encourages American jihadists to buy firearms at gun shows from Fix Gun Checks on Vimeo.

There was controversy on the border this spring surrounding a significant number of major gun shows scheduled in our area. Gun show conventions make firearms readily available for easy purchase very near the Mexico border.

Many believe that U.S. arms are doing the shooting south of the border in Mexico where guns are purportedly illegal yet 40,000 have been killed in the last few years. Some city leaders of nearby Columbus, NM are currently in prison for allegations of gun running to Mexico. There's corruption on both sides of the border.

The org "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" sent me the video you see atop this post today--a clip from Al Jaazera featuring an Al-Qaeda spokesman who they say is a possible successor to Osama Bin Laden, Adam Gadahn. He calls on "lone wolves" in the U.S. to buy assault rifles and carry out a wave of shootings right here in the United States.

Gadahn informs his fellow terrorists that they have a "golden opportunity" to exploit gaps in our gun laws and kill innocent people:
"You can go down to a gun show at the local convention center and come away with a fully automatic assault rifle, without a background check, and most likely without having to show an identification card."

A quick visit to the "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" website informed me that 5,005 have been murdered since the attack on Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson early this year.

I know many people disagree with me. But I don't think that's the freedom that the Second Amendment to the Constitution was talking about.

You can sign the Mayors Against Illegal Guns petition here.

My friends and I protest outside an arms bazaar, held at the El Paso Convention and Visitors Center in December 2007 within a few blocks of Juarez, Mexico--now known as the deadliest city in the world.
